Taxation of parcels under €150 – POSTPONED: what you need to know
The Government of the Republic of Moldova has postponed the introduction of VAT on parcels worth up to €150 ordered from platforms such as Temu, AliExpress, and Shein.
What has changed:
• The introduction will not take place on July 1, 2026
• System testing will begin on September 1, 2026
• Full implementation is expected from October 1, 2026
Planned taxes:
• 20% VAT on the value of the goods
• + a fixed processing fee of 20 lei
According to the authorities, these costs may be included in the product price so that buyers do not have to pay them separately upon delivery.
Context:
• The government aims to regulate the flow of parcels from China
• There are concerns about shipment contents and competition with local businesses
• Public reaction is divided: businesses support it, while some consumers are against it
Important for BayShop customers:
At the moment, the NEW taxes on parcels under €150 are NOT applied. Until the official launch, delivery operates as usual.
